Summer Swim Registration is Open

Summer is almost here River Rapids swimmers! We are excited to announce we will be able to have a summer swim season this year, with some modifications to keep swimmers, coaches, and families safe.

Registration will open on May 1 through PVYA with a $110 fee per swimmer.

Swimmers will need to be able to swim the length of the pool alone. To keep everyone safe, coaches will not be able to get in the pool or be hands on with swimmers. The expectation is that swimmers know how to swim and can safely make it the length of the pool. The first day of practice will serve as an evaluation day. Should your child not be able to swim the length of the pool safely, we will refund your registration fee.

Practices will be held at the Brunswick Crossing pool starting June 1. A practice schedule will be posted once finalized. To follow guidelines on the number of people allowed in the pool area at a time, parents will not be permitted to stay in the pool area during practices. There are many places to safely sit and watch from a distance outside of the pool area.

Meets will look a little different this year. All meets will be virtual with our River Rapid swimmers all swimming at the Brunswick Crossing pool every Saturday morning. Their times will be compared to the swimmers on the other team online and placements assigned virtually. Volunteering and parent viewing will also look a little different this year to allow for better spacing and safety measures.

We will hold a virtual parent meeting on May 27 at 7:00 to explain how the season will look in greater detail and to answer any parent questions.

COVID-19 Restrictions

PVYA Summer Swimming will be following all COVID-19 protocols as defined by Frederick County as well as the Frederick Summer Swim League.  As these restrictions are still evolving further clarification will be provided at the parent meeting on Thursday, May 27th (virtual meeting).

In order to maintain social distancing, swim coaches will not be able to assist swimmers across the pool.  All swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool to participate in the swim program.  The first day of practice will serve as an evaluation day. Should your child not be able to swim the length of the pool safely, we will refund your registration fee.
