Palomino European Zone Championships Preview

Following a sensational tournament in Prague, Czech Republic this past weekend, the PONY European Zone once again takes center stage, as the Stuttgart, Germany Reds will host the first-ever Palomino 18U European Zone Championships this weekend in Stuttgart, Germany. Six teams from across Europe will compete in 15 games over four days to determine who is the continent’s best.

Participating teams:
Brabant United (Netherlands, Belgium)
East Europe All-Stars (Lithuania, Belarus)
London Mets (Great Britain)
Paris University Club (France)
Stuttgart Reds (Germany)
Swiss National Team (Switzerland)

The Stuttgart Reds have been an up-and-coming program over the last several years with PONY Baseball, beginning with their third-place showing in the Pony 14U age division at the 2012 PONY European Zone Championships in Prague. In the Colt 16U division, the Reds enjoyed their most success in 2016, when they finished fifth overall. The Swiss National Team joined PONY in 2017 and in its inaugural year, the team finished 13th in Prague. The London Mets, annual participants in the European Zone Championships in Pony 14U and Colt 16U, will also look to put their best foot forward in the Palomino 18U age division in the tournament’s first year.

Brabant United opens up the tournament against the East Europe All-Stars at DB Park Friday at 10:30 a.m. local time Stuttgart, while the host Reds will battle the Mets in the day one finale at 1:00 p.m.
