Cross Country Program


PVYA YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY


The program is open to all area boys and girls ages 7 thru 14 or 1st grade through 8th grade.

Cross Country is an endurance based running sports program, open to all area boys and girls ages 7 -14.

The program has been a PVYA sport since 1985, offering both competition and physical fitness that helps in all sports and teaches the principles of this lifelong activity.

PVYA's Blue Ridge Express team, will hold registration and the first 2 practices on Monday Aug. 22nd and Wed. Aug. 24th.  Registration is done in person at these 2 practices, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm near the parking lot of the Brunswick Middle School.  Registration fee is $20 per athlete and $30 if a team shirt is needed.  A family rate is offered.  The team will practice 2 nights a week at the middle school cross country course and some practices at nearby Catoctin Nature Park, the nights vary, but they will not change.  
The team will practice 2 nights per week and encourage parents to help by offering an additional personal night of practice.

The team is coached by experienced head coaches, Lee & Anne Zumbach with assistance from several excellent parent coaches.  Parent help at practice is always welcome and encouraged.

Athletes should come to practice with a running shoe and a bottle of water.  No prior experience is needed and new runners are more than welcome.
