Welcome to PVYA Soccer

PVYA Soccer has grown into one of Mid-Maryland's largest soccer programs. Many PVYA teams compete in tournament events throughout the MD, VA and PA.  PVYA has made it a standard that all Coaches in the organization receive certification from either the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) or USSF (United States Soccer Federation) through the Maryland State Soccer Affiliate. By increasing our Coaches knowledge of the game, the USSF recommendations of practices, and age bracket focus topics, we are providing better technical training during the "Golden Years of Soccer" which span from U6-U12 teams.

Creating The Individual Player

Focusing on the individual player is the priority of the PVYA coaching staff.
Growing a creative player is the focus within our player development strategies.

To this we need to focus our efforts on the ball skills a player needs to be a successful soccer player. You will notice a great deal of foot skills being taught at the younger age groups to include the basics of passing, trapping, dribbling, and moves (Faints and Fakes). These all lead to being able to teach Techniques and Tactics of team play. More and more, we as coaches, are told to have practices with all the players involved in the sessions and to get as many touches on the ball as you can. With this in mind, the players become more comfortable when the ball is played to them and the fear of "what do I do now" grows to "look at the options I have".

PVYA Futsal

What is Futsal?
Futsal is a small-sided soccer game (5v5 - 4 field players and a goalkeeper) played on a smaller field (roughly the size of a basketball court) with a smaller, low-bounce ball.  Futsal is played with touchline boundaries.  Unlike Indoor Soccer, there are no walls in play.   In Futsal, players are constantly reminded to play the same quality control game that is required for success in the outdoor game.  Futsal develops skill, control and technique.  A small field with lines puts players constantly under pressure from other players and out-of-play boundaries.  Players must learn to settle the ball rapidly, cut sharply, shield effectively, pass quickly and move into space.

Intramural/In-House League
PVYA will host a league for kids who are interested in learning the fundamentals of futsal and gain experience playing games with their school friends.

Competitive Futsal League
PVYA will field at least one competitive team in each available age classification (U10/U11, U12/U13, U14/U15) for both girls and boys.

How much? The investment for recreational/intramural is $35 for 8 Weeks. Our competitive league fee will be $55 for 8 weeks.
